My daughter and I will be taking a road trip this week, so I'll not have any posts till the end of the week. I promise to take lots of pics. We are leaving tomorrow and we are going to Rochester, IN home of Ann of GreenOak, (Magpie Cottage). I can hardly wait. We are going to junk in Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. It's a girls week. Hope all of you have a great week.

A Passion for Decorating

Decorating is a passion of mine. I love to rearrange things in my home. I change things around for every season. (Halloween is my favorite, you'll have to wait until October).
Don't ever be afraid to reach out and try something new. I am posting some pictures of bookshelves in my library. They are piled up, just like you threw stuff on the shelf for 50 years. People often ask me how do you dust that? Answer, you don't its suppose to look like its been there forever, dust and all.
One thing you what to make sure to do is always add one thing or two that just doesn't really go with anything else on that shelf. This makes the eye notice all the other things.
As you will notice there are lots of pharmacy and soda fountain things on these shelves. That's because my husband is a pharmacist and we have a soda fountain in our pharmacy. If you are ever in our little town (Mountain View) stop in and see us.
Hope you enjoy the pics and are inspired to go beyond the norm.

Happy Birthday to my Best Friend
Tammy Holland

Today is my best friend's birthday. We have been friends for years. Her and her husband lived in Mountain View when we moved here in 1982. Our husbands starting fishing together and then we soon became friends. The moved away in about 1984? Although there are and have been many miles between us we have remained very good friends. Our hope is someday they will move back. She is someone that I can always count on. Last year she came and stayed 2 weeks helping me prepare for my daughters wedding. (Lots of hard work and sweat, it was an outside wedding at my home.) What a friend! She has always been there to listen and advise me. We are alot alike, sometimes we buy the exact same things without even knowing it.
So today I celebrate her friendship and her birthday by dedicating my blog to her.
This is a poem that we found at Gordmans that we bought for each other.
In times of happiness and fun
all good times abound when the day is done
I'll be forever your best friend
When sadness comes to fill your day
and no one else is willing to stay
I'll be forever your best friend
We'll walk and talk and make a plan
and share the burden when we can
I'll be forever your best friend
In times of trouble and times of need
I'll come running with Godspeed
I am forever your "Best Friend"

Love you have a Great birthday!

Enjoy the Garden

Today is a new day. Enjoy the fragrance of the flowers, the birds chirping and let yourself be absorbed in God's nature. Yesterday I had to go to the city (which is about a 2 hour drive) to do some shopping. I am so blessed to live in a small town. In our small town people wave at you, they ask how you are at the local post office and you can still get a real old fashion soda at Woods' Pharmacy and Old Fashion Soda Fountain. Enjoy the garden! I can already hear the bees.

So many in today's society has lost purpose. The purpose of living and loving. Taking time out to enjoy life and its many blessings.
I am reminded of a day not long ago, I was working in my garden (all day long, playing in the dirt) when my daughter came outside: it was almost dark and said " So you think this is fun?" Today she is 24 and just got married last year. Guess What?? She just planted her first flower garden. Wonder if she thinks it's fun yet?Remember always teach and show your children purpose in living and how many blessings God gives us.

My Blessing for today is watching flowers bloom in my garden just as our children do.

Britt's first bloom in her first garden.

Is the life of a obsession or a lifestyle?
If you want to become an avid junker always follow these guidelines:

Challenge for today -- Take time out to call a friend and just tell them you were thinking about them.
I am calling my friend Dianne.
